Orange has announced the Tahiti, an Orange-branded Android Tablet device, designed to compliment the existing range of Orange Android smartphones.

The device, made for Orange by Huawei, includes a 5.0 Megapixel camera, as well as 3G and WiFi connectivity, The Tahiti will retail for £69.99, with a £25 a month line rental, which offers a monthly 1 GB anytime data allowance, with a further 1 GB for Off-Peak usage, between Midnight and 4 am.

The device will be powered by a 1.2 GHz processor, and has a 7 inch multi touch LCD display. The Tablet runs on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, and weighs in at 390g, and is just 10.5mm thick. The Tahiti also supports Bluetooth and AGPS. Onboard memory storage is a generous 8 GB, with support for memory expansion via Micro SD memory cards, and the device will support Adobe Flash.

There is a wide range of content available for the Tahiti Tablet from the Android Market, as well as bespoke Orange apps such as Orange Wednesday, which lets you access two-for-the-price-of-one cinema tickets.

Paul Jevons, Director of Products and Devices at Everything Everywhere, the parent company of Orange, said: “We are pleased to be expanding our portfolio of our own-branded devices into Tablets for the first time. The Tahiti is a stylish, lightweight device with a great quality screen, which we believe really does offer great value innovation and will help customers to get the most out of their multimedia content whilst on the go.”
